Eric Dier admits he has been impressed by what he has seen from recent signing

Eric Dier has admitted that he has been left impressed by what he has seen from recent summer signing Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

Tottenham completed the £15million signing of the former Southampton captain last month after he entered the last year of his contract at St Mary’s (Goal).

Dier, who has been training alongside the 25-year-old in recent weeks at Hotspur Way believes that the former Bayern Munich player has already shown signs of his leadership qualities along with displaying an impressive level of professionalism and work rate.

The Spurs pair could come up against each other this evening when England face Denmark in the UEFA Nations League match in Copenhagen.

Dier, who moved from his role as a defensive midfielder to a central defender appears to be pleased to have Hojbjerg ahead of him in helping to shield the back four of the North London outfit.

Dier told the Evening Standard: “After seeing him more closely since he arrived at Tottenham, he’s a great player,” Dier said of Hojbjerg.

“He’s going to bring a lot to the Tottenham team. He has attributes that we’ve been missing. He’s very professional, he has a fantastic attitude and work rate and I think he brings leadership qualities as well. He speaks a lot on the pitch, he pushes his teammates and he demands things from his teammates.

“In the way that he plays, he’s quite combative and aggressive and brings more fight to the midfield, which is good for us.”
