Eric Dier claims this man can fill the Harry Kane void

Tottenham Hotspur will be without Harry Kane until early March after their main man suffered another ankle injury in the 1-0 defeat to Manchester United in January.

This comes at a time when Spurs knew they would be without second highest goal scorer Heung Min Son, as he jetted off to join up with South Korea at the Asia Cup last week.

Lucas Moura has also been out injured, and Vincent Janssen frozen out of the squad, leaving just Fernando Llorente as the only available first team striker.

Pochettino put his faith in the Spanish target man against Fulham this weekend, but Llorente was far from his best.

Brought in to score goals in Kane’s absence, Llorente actually ended up turning the ball into his own net, handing Fulham the lead.

Despite this poor performance, Eric Dier has placed his faith in Fernando Llorente and his ability, stating that Spurs must simply give him service.

Dier said (Irish Times): “Fernando’s a very good player. He has very good qualities. We need to give him the service he needs to demonstrate his qualities. We can do that and he can help the team.

“It’s not a question of if we can cope without Harry or not. Harry’s one of the best strikers in the world, any team would feel the loss if Harry wasn’t playing, so we have to find a solution and move on. It’s normal – he’s one of the best strikers in the world. People are going to be talking about it when he’s injured but we’ve just got to get on with it. Injuries happen in football and that’s why you have a squad and not just 11 players.”
