Eric Dier reveals his 45-minute secret to staying fit and fresh at Spurs

Eric Dier has revealed that he takes a 45 minute nap every afternoon after training to stay fresh and fit.

Dier also claimed that the players and the fans at Spurs have now built a really good connection, and praised the atmosphere the supporters are creating at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Ahead of the clash against Eintracht Frankfurt, both Antonio Conte and Harry Kane called on the fans to create a good atmosphere at home and push the players on.

The Spurs fans have certainly responded, with the teams greeted by raucous atmospheres both against Frankfurt and Everton.

In his post-match press conference following the win over Toffees on Sunday, Conte commended the noise that the fans made and admitted that the team want to make the stadium a fortress (Football.London).

Dier believes that the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has been an intimidating place for opposition players to come recently.

The centre-back told Football.London: “I think there’s a really good connection at the moment between us and the fans.

“With the new stadium it takes a bit of time to get used to it all, and I think we’re really creating a nice atmosphere here for us and a not so nice one for people who come to play here.”

Matches come thick and fast for Spurs, with a game every three days until the break for the World Cup next month, and Dier revealed that lots of sleep has helped him maintain his fitness levels.

He said: “I love a nap, I nap every day! 45 minutes or something. I get eight or nine hours (at night) and 45 minutes in the afternoon. I do it straight after training. I like it. It makes me feel better for the rest of the day. I think it’s good for me.

“I think some do it more than me. The South Americans, they love it. I don’t have kids, so it’s easy for me. For people with kids, I’ve heard it’s a little different at night. But for me, I can sleep whenever I want.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Our perfect home record this season does suggest that we have been successful in turning the stadium into a fortress. It is up to the fans to maintain the same level of support and back the players when they go through difficult times in matches.

On too many occasions during Mourinho’s and Nuno’s time at the club, one could hear the discontent of the fans when results were not going our way, which only served to put more pressure on our players.
