According to the Premier League’s Stats Centre, Eric Dier leads all Tottenham Hotspur players for big chances created so far this season.
Dier has found himself to be a mainstay in Nuno Espirito Santo’s line-up in the top flight, cementing a starting spot alongside changing partners in Cristian Romero and Davinson Sanchez.
The 27-year-old has managed to use that faith put in him to turn around his Spurs fortunes, after experiencing a tough campaign last season.
But Dier apparently isn’t just thriving on the defensive end, he is currently leading his Spurs teammates for big chances created in the Premier League with a worrying grand total of two.
The statistics show that Dier is the sole leader in the squad, with the likes of Harry Kane, Steven Bergwijn, and even goalkeeper Hugo Lloris all behind with one big chance created.
The list is rounded out by Giovani Lo Celso and Sergio Reguilon, while Heung-min Son and Tanguy Ndombele are both yet to register at all.
It appears that Son’s assist to Hojbjerg against Aston Villa was not considered to be a big-chance, while the later own-goal perhaps also did not qualify.
Spurs have endured a mixed and unconvincing start under Nuno, registering four wins and three defeats, while the performances in the process have often flattered to deceive.
Spurs Web Opinion
Dier has had a much better start to the season compared to last season, but it says a lot if a centre-back is topping the entire squad for big chances created.
Spurs have struggled all season to generate much going forward, and that statistic needs to change quickly for the club to achieve anything this campaign.
