Erik Lamela update given by Mourinho ahead of FA Cup tie against Norwich

Erik Lamela’s almost entire Tottenham career has been plagued by consistent injuries of all shapes and sizes, the latest of which kept him out of Sunday’s match against Wolves.

Lamela has been at Tottenham for seven seasons now, playing a total of 209 games and scoring 33 goals for the North London club (Wikipedia).

TransferMarkt show that Lamela was out with a hamstring injury for 12 games between October and December.

However, the Argentine has been popular under Mourinho, with the Special One playing him in seven of the last nine Premier League matches. The two he missed out on came down to injuries rather than a lack of selection.

Of late, Lamela has only been able to come on towards the end of matches, usually when Spurs are chasing a goal. In truth, he has been very effective in this job – showing a desire and passion to press and win back possession.

Mourinho has now revealed that he expects Lamela to play a part tomorrow when Spurs take on Norwich in the FA Cup fifth round under the lights in North London.
