Eriksen comments on new contract progress

Tottenham Hotspur midfield maestro Christian Eriksen has finally spoken out on a potential new contract at the club.

Eriksen joined Spurs in 2013 for a bargain £13.5m from Ajax.

Since then he has gone on to score 41 goals and assist an additional 50 in a Lilywhite shirt.

However, the Great Dane’s current contract runs out in the summer of 2020, which is why Spurs will be desperate to get him to sign.

Tottenham already have the likes of Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen, Mousa Dembele, Fernando Llorente, and Michel Vorm running out of contract come the end of this season.

Daniel Levy will be desperate to tie down his best players for the foreseeable future.

This would either ensure them playing for Spurs for many years to come, or at least huge transfer prices if a team does eventually turn their heads.

Manager Pochettino has already signed a new deal this season, along with the likes of Harry Kane, Harry Winks, Erik Lamela, Heung Min Son, Dele Alli, Davinson Sanchez, and more.

Eriksen told Danish news outlet BT: “I have my agent to take care of it [contract talks] so I can focus on playing football. Then we see in the end where it ends. There have been talks with Tottenham many times.

“I have not felt that they will throw me out yet.”
