Eriksen’s free-kick against Everton breaks Premier League record

Tottenham and Everton played out a 2-2 draw in their final Premier League game of the season at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium today.

The game was a typical end-of-season fixture that was played at a tempo and had its fair share of sloppy mistakes from both sets of players.

Spurs took the lead early in the game through Eric Dier when the England man got on the end of an Eriksen corner and thumped it home past Jordan Pickford from close range.

Tottenham were then wasteful in the final third as they squandered opportunities to go 2-0 up in the game.

Everton came out with more intensity in the second half and scored 2 quickfire goals through Theo Walcott and Cenk Tosun to turn the game around.

However, Eriksen stepped up for a free kick in the 75th minute and stroked the ball into the far corner, to level the game at 2-2, and that’s how the score stayed till the final whistle.

This was the first dead ball the Dane has converted this season in 17 attempts. The goal from Eriksen was also the 1,067th goal of the Premier League season, a record tally in the 20-team format of the Premier League.

It is great to see the Dane score a freekick again as his dead balls have left a lot to be desired recently. The strike would certainly fill Eriksen with confidence.

With the 27-year-old being linked with a move away from the club in the summer (AS), this could turn out to be his last Premier League appearance for Tottenham, and so it was great that he marked it with a goal.
