Eriksen’s “intense” experience watching team against Apoel

Christian Eriksen had to sit out our our Champions League match at APOEL last week and the Dane didn’t like it one little iota.

Speaking with tottenhamhotspur.com he described it as an ‘intense’ experience as he watched us come through a potentially tricky tie with relative ease.

Christian is a consistent starter for us, beginning 45 of our 53 matches last season and 8 out of a possible 10 so far this season.

However he missed the trip to Cyprus through illness.
Thankfully it was only short term and was back in the thick of it with the team for our 4-0 win at Huddersfield at the weekend.

However, for APOEL, he had to reluctantly watch his team mates from his sofa.

“It all happened on Monday morning,” explained Christian. “I had a bad stomach and stayed in bed for the rest of Monday.

“Of course, I was a bit nervous then watching the game on Tuesday.
“It was intense. I’m used to being in the team and being involved and you don’t really see what it’s like from the outside.

Our Number 23 continued “You can’t do a thing to help. You can’t affect anything. You can shout but that doesn’t help in any way! Before we scored the first goal I was a little nervous but after that it was fine. I was clapping when we scored!
“I was living in the game watching and following it as best as possible, all on the couch!

Our little Danish genius is a vital cog in the Tottenham wheel. He’s been instrumental to our attacking play and is so understated. He’s also just 25 years old, it seems that he’s been around forever and long may it continue.
