‘Especially unhappy’ – Mark Lawrenson shares his Spurs v Wolves score prediction

Former Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson has shared his prediction ahead of Tottenham Hotspur’s Premier League fixture against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Last time out, Lawrenson incorrectly predicted that Spurs would beat Southampton 2-0, when in fact it ended up as a 3-2 victory for the Saints (BBC).

The 64-year-old believes that Tottenham will return to winning ways against Wolves in north London despite acknowledging the frustration which Antonio Conte must be feeling due to their recent inconsistencies.

Wolves come into the match having lost 1-0 at Molineux on Thursday to Spurs’ rivals Arsenal.

Tottenham, meanwhile, remain in the hunt for Champions League football next season and a win could close the gap on their rivals, Arsenal, Man United, and West Ham.

He told BBC Sport: “Tottenham are very up and down at the moment which must be frustrating for their manager Antonio Conte.

“He will have been especially unhappy at the way they lost to Southampton on Wednesday after leading 2-1 with 10 minutes to go – which was a kind of role reversal of the way Spurs fought back to beat Leicester in injury time last month.

“So I am not really sure which Spurs we will see here, but we know what to expect from Wolves now. The task for Conte and his players is to find a way of breaking them down.

“Lawro’s prediction: 2-0.”

Tottenham cannot afford many more performances and dropped points like they experienced on Wednesday night if they are serious about finishing in the top four this season.

With the greatest respect to Wolves, Spurs should be looking at this fixture on paper and expecting nothing less than all three points.
