Romaine Mundle has taken to Instagram to pay tribute to Tottenham Hotspur ahead of sealing the next move of his footballing career.
Mundle departed Tottenham earlier this month after rejecting the opportunity to sign a professional contract with his boyhood club until the summer of 2025 and decided to seek first-team opportunities elsewhere (Fabrizio Romano).
The winger is reported to be on the verge of sealing a move to Belgian side Standard Liege on a free transfer which will see him put pen to paper on a deal until 2027 having already undergone a medical which will see him link up with former Spurs academy coach Yaya Toure who left his role with the Premier League side last week to become assistant to manager Carl Hoefkens.
Romaine Mundle sends classy message of thanks to Tottenham
Mundle wrote on Instagram: “After an incredible 15 years at my boyhood club the time has come to close this chapter. I am eternally grateful to everyone that has supported me throughout my journey at Tottenham; from the coaches and club staff to my fantastic teammates.
“Thank you for everything @spursofficial and I wish the club every success in the future!”
The 20-year-old had been involved with training with the Tottenham first team last season and found himself on the bench on two occasions, but failed to make his debut under Antonio Conte, Cristian Stellini and Ryan Mason.

It is always disappointing when a local boy decides his career is best served elsewhere rather than looking to break through at Tottenham. The reality is however, very few players in recent years have actually gone on to hold down a regular place within the senior squad.
The focus of developing homegrown talent has been grossly overlooked in recent years with the club having been too focused on quick-win success with managers such as Jose Mourinho and Conte who pay little attention to what is happening within the academy ranks.
