Tottenham Hotspur midfielder James Maddison has been left out of England’s final squad for Euro 2024, according to The Athletic.

Maddison was called up to the initial 30-man squad by Gareth Southgate ahead of the tournament in Germany but has now been cut from the squad.
Southgate must cut his squad down to a maximum of 26 players by June 7th and will not travel with the Three Lions to their training base on the continent.

Maddison was a second half replacement in England’s friendly win against Bosnia and Herzegovina on Monday where he featured for 30 minutes.
The former Leicester City player made a bright start to his career at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium following his summer switch but an ankle injury suffered in the defeat to Chelsea in November sidelined him for three months.
Maddison’s form following the injury was not at the same level and has taken some time to get back up to full speed again.

Tottenham will have no English representatives at Euro 2024
With England captain Harry Kane now at Bayern Munich, it will mean that Tottenham will not have any representation within the Three Lions camp for the tournament which kicks off later this month,
England will face Serbia in their first match of the tournament on June 16th.
Maddison made 28 Premier League appearances for Tottenham last season, scoring four goals and assisting nine times

Maddison was selected for the World Cup in 2022 but failed to make an appearance and will now miss another big tournament.
It is disappointing for the midfielder, however, there have been impressive performances from a number of other players in his position including Eberechi Eze, while Maddison has struggled to rediscover his early season form.
