PSV Eindhoven have moved to dismiss speculation that they could be looking to bring Toby Alderweireld to the Philips Stadium.

Tottenham last did business with the Dutch giants when the North Londoners parted with £27million to bring Steven Bergwijn to the Premier League in January of last year (BBC).

De Telegraaf claimed that PSV had made contact with the representatives of the Spurs defender to see if he would be interested in a return to the Eredivisie.

The 31-year-old made 186 appearances in all competitions at the start of his career with PSV’s rivals, Ajax (transfermarkt).

PSV director Toon Gerbrands says claimed that Alderweireld is currently not part of their transfer plans, having scouted hundreds of players as part of their recruitment strategy.

The Belgian international who will turn 32 before the end of the current season still has more than two years left on his contract with Jose Mourinho’s side (transfermarkt).

Belgian football journalist Kristof Terreur took to Twitter confirm the situation.
