European club confirm they have appointed Jose Mourinho as their new head coach

Jose Mourinho has not had to wait long for his next managerial appointment after AS Roma confirmed that he will be in charge of the Serie A side ahead of next season.

The Portuguese was sacked by Tottenham Hotspur last month just days before the Carabao Cup final with the club in seventh place in the Premier League table and having already been surprisingly knocked out of the Europa League at the hands of Dinamo Zagreb.

Daniel Levy took the decision to appoint 29-year-old Ryan Mason as interim head coach for the remainder of the campaign.

Mourinho revealed in an interview with Times Magazine last week that he was in no rush to return to the game and would instead spend his time analysing his work and even suggested that next season could come too early for him.

Roma revealed earlier today that current head coach Paulo Fonseca will leave the Italian outfit at the end of the season.
