Tottenham Hotspur have a long list of celebrated club captains, including Ledley King and Cristian Romero, and one expert thinks he may know the next in line.
There was no shortage of expectations on Luka Vuskovic when he made the loan move to Hamburg, but it is fair to say that he has thoroughly exceeded even the most optimistic of expectations so far.
The stats suggest that Vuskovic has been one of the best centre-backs in the Bundesliga this season, with the teenager excelling in his first taste of top-level football.
Vuskovic won the Bundesliga Rookie of the Month award for September at the first time of asking, and one expert feels that there is a lot more to come from the centre-back this season.

Tottenham youngster Luka Vuksovic praised for his loan decision
Vuskovic revealed that Tottenham were happy for him to stay at the club this season, but he decided to go out on loan in order to play regularly.
Andy Brassell believes that the loan switch to HSV was the perfect option for the teenager, who is already looking at home at the club.
Brassell told talkSPORT about the Spurs loanee: “I think Spurs fans can be really excited about Vuskovic. I think he’s made the totally right move as well. So not only is he getting to play in the Bundesliga every week, but as well, there was also already a connection with the club.
“Even though he’s 18, he feels like he’s at home because his older brother, Mario, was at the club and he’s still sort of with the club. Of course, he’s been serving a drugs ban for quite a while now. But Luka said right at the beginning, because of my brother, I know everyone at the club anyway. So it’s just like arriving home, really.”
Vuskovic backed to be the future Spurs captain
Brassell has asserted that the Croatian international is already showing leadership qualities despite his tender age and is convinced that he will one day wear the captain’s armband.
He explained that the teenager sets extremely high standards for himself while keeping his feet firmly on the ground.
The journalist added about Vuskovic: “He’s just such an engaging watch. He’s someone, even at this early age, I suppose, a little bit in a different way, like Lucas Bergvall, who I think from the moment he came into the Tottenham team, you’re like, ‘Yeah, this bloke’s gonna be the captain at some point.
“There’s no doubt that he’s gonna be the captain at some point. And you can definitely see that for Vuskovic as well. Someone who’s confident but not arrogant. Someone who knows he’s got ability, but expects an enormous lot from himself and doesn’t make excuses and is aware that he’s fallible and he’s gonna make mistakes.”
