European football expert tips striker to be ‘tremendous fit’ for Spurs

European football expert, Gabriele Marcotti, has claimed that Lille striker Victor Osimhen would be a perfect fit for Tottenham (Gab and Juls podcast – Relayed by Daily Express).

Osimhen has been linked with a move away from France, with Spurs and Arsenal both reportedly interested in the Nigerian striker (The Sun).

The 21-year-old has netted 18 times for Lille across all competitions this season (Transfermarkt) and Marcotti admitted that he sees similarities on the field between Harry Kane and the young Nigerian.

“I think he would be a tremendous fit for Spurs because in terms of style of play, I’m not saying he’s as good, but there are obvious parallels with Harry Kane there,” said Marcotti.

Spurs were linked with plenty of strikers in the January transfer window after Harry Kane tore his hamstring Kane, an injury that later required surgery.

The Lilywhites were linked with former-AC Milan striker, Krzysztof Piatek, however, the Pole opted for Hertha Berlin in hope of more first-team football (talkSPORT).

Luckily for Mourinho, Kane is now fully fit and will be available for selection when the Premier League returns later this month.

Marcotti added: “He could play with Kane, he could play when Kane is not available.

“Osimhen, Kane, [Heung-min] Son, Lucas Moura, [Steven] Bergwijn, that’s a ton of firepower. Obviously, Mourinho’s got good links with that club, so we’ll see.”

French football expert, Julien Laurens told the podcast that he expects Lille to hold out for a similar bid to the one of around £72M that saw Arsenal take Nicolas Pepe from the French side last summer.

Spurs need back-up for Kane. The number of games the striker has to play due to a lack of options upfront is surely having an effect on his regular injuries. However, if Lille are looking for £70M for Osimhen, it is best we don’t get too attached to the young Nigerian.
