Even Lionel Messi is happy that Tottenham won the Europa League

Lionel Messi has reacted to Cristian Romero’s post about Tottenham ruling London after the Lilywhites’ historic Europa League success.

One can understand why Spurs fans have reacted so emotionally to the Europa League win, given the constant mocking they have had to endure from rival fans over the last two decades.

Tottenham have now finally got the monkey off their backs and their supporters will now hope that this win opens the floodgates in terms of trophies for the club over the coming years.

Tottenham fans can now have bragging rights over Arsenal, with the Lilywhites’ European trophy tally now looking extremely impressive.

Lionel Messi reacts to Cristian Romero’s social media post about Tottenham

Spurs and Crystal Palace are the only two London clubs that will end the season with major silverware, and that fact has not been lost on Cristian Romero.

Following the huge trophy parade on Friday, which saw hundreds of thousands of fans take to the streets, Romero took to social media to post that London is Lilywhite.

His post read: “London is [white heart emoji] @spursofficial. The only way to get my name engraved in this club was like this [trophy emoji]. We deserved this @spursofficial. Thank you all for the love as always!!!”

It will delight Spurs fans to know that his international teammate, Lionel Messi, ‘liked’ Romero’s post, which indicates that the Argentine superstar agrees with the sentiment of Tottenham’s dominance in London – we hope.

What Cristian Romero has said about his future

Over the last couple of months, a number of outlets have reported that Romero is edging closer to a move to Atletico Madrid.

When asked about his future following the Europa League win, the Tottenham vice-captain said that he loves the club but refused to guarantee that he will remain at N17.

Instead, Romero remarked that he could not stop the press from speculating over his future and that he could not keep clarifying the things written about him.
