Ally McCoist has insisted that Tottenham fans should certainly not be upset at the news of Ange Postecoglou’s impending arrival and has waxed lyrical about the job that the 57-year-old has done north of the border.
Multiple publications over the last 24 hours have indicated that Postecoglou‘s move to Spurs is gathering steam and is expected to be agreed soon.
This includes a report from The Telegraph which suggested on Monday afternoon that the Australian is ‘close to sealing’ a move to Spurs, who are expected to pay £5m in compensation to Celtic.
The report added that Postecoglou is expected to sign a contract that could run for three years at the North London club.
This report followed an update from Sky Sports Football Daily earlier in the day, which suggested that Celtic have already started looking for a new head coach amidst Tottenham‘s talks with Postecoglou.
Fabrizio Romano then gave the deal his ‘here we go’ seal of approval, with a two-year contract being agreed, as well as an option for a third.

Some Spurs fans are seemingly not pleased with the Celtic boss’ impending arrival at the club, due to his lack of experience at the highest level, but McCoist has now assuaged those fears.
The former Rangers manager told talkSPORT (6:27 am, June 5, 2023) said about Postecoglou: “He has been brilliant. You have got to stand and look at what he has done and what he has achieved, and I think he has been excellent. If I was a Spurs fan, I would not be too upset at all.”

There is no doubt that this appointment has an element of risk as Postecoglou is unproven at the highest level but I am also pleased that the Tottenham hierarchy have had the courage to go with the 57-year-old rather than hiring a safe but unspectacular option like Luis Enrique.
