Former Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Brad Friedel has weighed in on the club’s long-term managerial future amid Mauricio Pochettino links.
Tottenham Hotspur are in serious trouble as they risk losing their top-flight status after spending 49 years in the first division.
Spurs are still backing Igor Tudor to turn things around during his interim spell, which is set to end in the summer.
However, Tudor’s time in the Tottenham dugout could be cut short if he does not improve on his dismal run, as Spurs attempt to avoid the drop.

Tottenham manager debate: Brad Friedel backs Mauricio Pochettino over rival candidates
We already know that Tottenham are aiming to make a permanent managerial appointment in the summer and, as such, any manager coming in now will likely be in the job for only a few months.
Several names have been linked with the permanent role at Tottenham, including Andoni Iraola, Mauricio Pochettino and Roberto De Zerbi, although reports claim that Pochettino remains the club’s favourite.
Brad Friedel has now had his say on who he wants to see become the permanent Tottenham manager next season.
During an interview with TalkSPORT, the former Spurs goalkeeper was asked to pick his ideal Spurs boss from a list of managerial options.
The likes of Eddie Howe, Michael Carrick, Xabi Alonso, Xavi Hernandez and Marco Silva were mentioned, but Friedel selected former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino as his preferred choice.
When asked whether he would still favour the Argentine returning despite currently being the USA manager, Friedel simply replied: “C’est la vie.”
Spurs fans continue to call for Mauricio Pochettino return
Friedel is not the only Tottenham fan who wants to see the return of Mauricio Pochettino, and it is no surprise given that some of the club’s best years came under the Argentine.
Pochettino was in attendance during Spurs’ clash with Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday and, as he made his way around the Spanish capital, several Tottenham fans caught sight of him.
Spurs supporters made their feelings clear to Pochettino, with many serenading him and asking him to return to north London.
Poch also gave an interview in which he addressed rumours about his future, with both Tottenham and Real Madrid reportedly keen.
