Everton forward claims that Tottenham wanted him

Everton-owned forward Kevin Mirallas has claimed that Tottenham wanted to sign him two years ago.

The Toffees signed Mirallas from Olympiakos for £6m in the summer of 2012, and he went on to impress as an attacking threat in the blue shirt.

The Belgian striker currently plays for Fiorentina, after securing a loan move from Everton this summer, but that hasn’t stopped him talking about the Premier League.

In an interview with Calciomercato.it, Mirallas claimed that Tottenham were interested in buying him some two years ago.

However, seeing his deterioration at Everton over the past couple of seasons, prompting his season-long loan move, Tottenham fans will not exactly be ruing the day that they missed out on his signature.

The 30-year-old’s Everton career seems to be over, as the manager has decided that his services are no longer required.

Mirallas said: “There was also Tottenham who courted me. The charm of the Premier League, the opportunity to participate in the Champions League. New emotions. Instead nothing.”

Would Kevin Mirallas have been a good Spurs signing? Would he get in ahead of Son Heung Min and Lucas Moura?
