Tottenham could and should have done a lot more business in the January transfer window, but there ended up being more outgoings than signings this time around.
Given the poor showing from Spurs this season and the slew of injuries affecting Thomas Frank’s squad, it’s safe to say fresh faces were desperately needed in January.
However, for some reason, the club failed to complete the deals we all wanted to see. Frank has promised a busy summer lies ahead, but that could be too little too late by that point.
So, who did Tottenham actually sign? And who has left the club? Here are all the incomings and outgoings in the January transfer window, plus those deadline day rumours we all got excited about.

Tottenham Hotspur incomings
Tottenham first signing of the January window was Conor Gallagher, who arrived from Atletico Madrid on 14 January, in a deal worth a reported £35m.
Thomas Frank was excited to sign Gallagher, and it’s thought the former Chelsea man could be a versatile and valuable member of the Spurs squad.
Gallagher explained why he joined Tottenham, saying: “I am so happy and excited to be here, taking the next step in my career at an amazing club. I wanted to be a Spurs player and thankfully the club felt the same. It was very easy, it happened very quickly and I am ready to get on the pitch.
“I know how great the fans are, I am really happy to be a part of it here and want to create special moments and memories together.”
He takes the number 22 shirt at Tottenham and it is thought Gallagher will be one of Spurs’ top earners now.
Meanwhile, Tottenham confirmed Souza as their second signing of the window, with the young Brazilian arriving for around £15m. You can read everything you need to know about Souza in our latest bio article and check out why Thomas Frank is so excited about the signing.
On deadline day, Tottenham did get one more deal done, though it’s not exactly the kind of move to get pulses racing. 18-year-old James Wilson joined Spurs on loan from Hearts, and will play for the Under-21 squad. There is an option to make the deal permanent in the summer.
Tottenham Hotspur signings in January 2026:

- Souza – £15m transfer from Santos
- James Wilson – loan from Hearts

Players leaving Tottenham in the January transfer window
There were plenty of players exiting the club this month. Early in the window, Spurs confirmed Brennan Johnson had joined Crystal Palace in a deal worth £35m.
Thomas Frank admitted it was a risk to sell Johnson, especially given the injury to Mohammed Kudus. But the Lilywhites will now have to deal with life without their Europa League hero.
Meanwhile, Spurs have sent five youngsters out on loan this month. Kota Takai joined Borussia Monchengladbach, George Abbott has gone back to Wycombe, and Jamie Donley switched to Oxford after a fairly disappointing spell at Stoke City.
Elsewhere, youngster Oliver Irow has gone to Mansfield Town and Min-hyeok Yang’s deal with Portsmouth was brought to an end, with the South Korean starlet joining Championship pace-setters Coventry City instead.
A number of young Tottenham players moved on loan on deadline day, too. Dane Scarlett went to Hibernian in Scotland, George Abbott joined Mansfield Town, and Alfie Dorrington signed for Salford City.

Deadline day Spurs transfer rumours
Spurs may have been fairly inactive on deadline day, but there were still plenty of rumours around the Lilywhites before the window shut.
There was reportedly a battle between Liverpool and Spurs for Kees Smit. Now, it looks like the AZ Alkmaar ace will be one to watch in the summer now.
It was also thought Spurs had inquired about Endrick, the Real Madrid starlet who’s currently on loan at Lyon.
Meanwhile, deals for Maghnes Akliouche and Moussa Diaby were ruled out, and nothing came of reported interest in Jhon Duran.
In terms of outgoings, given the injury crisis, it’s not surprising that no senior players were sold or let go. Antonin Kinsky was retained rather than going on loan to West Ham, despite weeks of speculation.
