‘Every day, every day’ – Igor Tudor reveals why Tottenham are finally showing their class

Igor Tudor has revealed the encouraging signs he has seen in Tottenham’s last two performances against Liverpool and Atletico Madrid.

A week ago, it appeared as if Tudor was on borrowed time, as speculation ran rife about the Croat’s future after Tottenham’s 5-2 loss at Atletico Madrid.

However, a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Liverpool and an impressive 3-2 win in the second leg against Atletico (albeit in a losing cause in the tie) have instilled some belief back into the Tottenham camp.

It has also bought Tudor some time and backing from the fans, and the former Juventus boss has now reacted after picking up his first win in charge of the Lilywhites.

Igor Tudor insists Tottenham are clearly improving

The 47-year-old remarked that all the hard work put in on the training ground has been coming to fruition in the last couple of matches.

He was delighted to see things click into gear on the pitch and admitted that it was key for the players’ confidence to back up the draw against Liverpool with another impressive performance.

When asked what clicked in attack for Tottenham Hotspur against Atletico, Tudor told Football.London: “You’ve got to work, you work, you work, you work, and then there is a game that shows what you work for. The players, what was the key, they believed that we can get through, so they really believed that was the key, after 1-0 more.

“Unfortunately, what happened in the [first Atletico] goal, OK, as I said before, the performance in this moment where we are, it’s very important that it happens, this kind of performance, three days after Liverpool.”

When asked if Tottenham are starting to see the fruits of the labour that he and his coaching staff have put in, the 47-year-old responded: “Of course, the last two games we improved. But as I said, the two games before, it’s impossible to judge these two games, because what happened in the first 20 minutes against [Atletico] Madrid, there is nothing about the coach, team, tactics, training. There is nothing about it.

“I believe Crystal Palace, the game before, we had 1-0 and total control of the game. Red card so as well, nothing about it. But in football you need confirmation every day, every day, every day, every Sunday.”

Tudor insists Spurs’ fate will not be defined by Nottingham Forest clash

Sunday’s clash at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is being billed as a relegation six-pointer. If there is a winner, that side would undoubtedly be in a much safer position in their quest for survival.

However, Tudor insists that the result of Sunday’s game will not decide who stays up and goes down this season.

The Tottenham interim boss added: “There is on Sunday an important game as we know, but it will not decide nothing yet. As I said before, everything will be decided in the last two or three games, I believe.”
