‘Every single player’ – Conte reveals what he told Spurs squad after Everton draw

Antonio Conte has revealed that he told the Tottenham squad that not only does he need to get to know them but the players also have to better understand each other, following their 0-0 draw with Everton.

The Italian stuck with the same starting lineup as he fielded in the Europa Conference League on Thursday for the clash at Goodison Park.

Conte’s fingerprint was certainly evident in the way the away side were set up as they looked much improved defensively compared to how they have been so far this season.

However, Tottenham once again struggled to create clear-cut chances going forward. The decision making of the Spurs forwards left a lot to be desired as they spurned several opportunities on the counter-attack.

Conte admitted that he is learning more about the squad with each passing day and also insisted that the players need to make it more difficult for him by doing their best to ensure they get into the side.

The Italian told Football.London: “Lo Celso went in very well and hit a post but for sure I have to know very well the whole squad and I said to my players that we have to know each other better.

“For me, they have to give me the possibility to know them very well and then every single player have to try to make me difficult because I like to win and I pick the players that I think can give us the possibility to win.”

The comment about the players having to know each other better tells me that Conte was not pleased with the choices that some of the players made in possession.

We had several situations where we won the ball in midfield and caught Everton flat-footed but our final pass was too poor to capitalise.
