Tottenham Hotspur had a number of unlikely heroes last season, from Lucas Moura’s hat-trick in Amsterdam to Fernando Llorente’s hip goal against Man City.
However, perhaps the most consistent performer all season was Frenchman Moussa Sissoko, a player who had previously been labelled a flop by many Spurs fans.
With Mousa Dembele struggling with injuries and eventually being sold back in January, there was a gaping hole in the Tottenham engine room for the first time in a long time.
Moussa Sissoko subsequently stepped up for Pochettino and transformed into one of the best box-to-box midfielders in the whole of Europe last season.
His tackling, strength, power, ball-carrying, passing, and fitness (not shooting), became a focal point of the Tottenham 2018/19 team, and Sissoko is now a beloved fan favourite.
