Every word of Hugo Lloris’ press conference ahead of Man City tie

Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has this afternoon been talking to the media ahead of the Champions League tie against Manchester City.

The Spurs skipper accompanied Mauricio Pochettino at the press conference at City’s training ground where he was asked a host of questions by the world’s footballing media.

Lloris proved to be Tottenham’s hero during the first leg at the new stadium last Tuesday evening when he dived to his left to claw away Aguero’s spot kick and deny City what could prove to be a vital away goal.

The Frenchman believes that Spurs are in a great position going into the second leg where they will look to build on their one goal advantage.

He stressed the importance for Spurs not to throw away the opportunity to progress to the semi final stages of the competition and believes that it is a massive chance for the club to continue their progression.

Lloris told Football.London: “We made such effort to win this game. Tomorrow is going to be a different game. It’s important to come here with ambition.

“He’s very difficult to replace. The good thing is everyone is ready to help the team. Everyone will be ready to fight and give the maximum. It’s all about team performance.

“It’s important to go step-by-step. We want to enjoy this moment. We are all excited and ready to fight for tomorrow. We all want to play that type of game.

“It’s always important to not concede a goal at home. We are going to face one of the best teams in Europe. They can score a lot of goals if the opponent show weakness. 1-0 was a good result.

“Every season we improve and we want to be more competitive every season. We are in a good position and it’s a massive opportunity for the club.”
