‘Everybody knows’ – Mourinho does not expect any surprises from Leeds tomorrow

Jose Mourinho claims that he is not expecting any surprises from Leeds United on Saturday as the newly-promoted side approach every game the same way.

Leeds have received plenty of praise for their front-footed approach as they have tried to consistently press high up the pitch and take the game to the opposition.

While their high-octane style has helped them to score plenty of goals, it has also resulted in them being fairly leaky at the back.

Some pundits have accused their style of play of being naive, particularly against the top sides, but Marcelo Bielsa has fiercely defended the Whites’ tactics, disagreeing that they are the cause of some his side’s heavy defeats this season.

Mourinho admitted that he does not expect the newly-promoted side to do anything differently tomorrow.

When asked which Leeds will turn up, the Spurs boss told Football.London: “I think the Leeds that turns up is the Leeds.

“Everybody knows the team they are, everybody knows the way they like to play and that’s it.

“I don’t think we’ll have any surprise in relation to the way they want to play their game.”

However, Mourinho admitted that his side will look to nullify Leeds’ strengths and impose themselves on the game.

He added: “We know where they are very strong and of course we have to try not to let them export their strengths and at the same time we have to try to play our game.”

Spurs Web Opinion

There is no question that we will have plenty of space to potentially exploit on the counter-attack given the way Leeds commit bodies forward. However, when we win the ball back, we have to transition it into attacking areas much better than we did against Wolves.
