Ben Davies has called Tottenham’s recent downturn in form a ‘blip’ but says the squad is confident that quick improvements will be made.
Spurs were on the wrong end of a 2-0 loss to Wolves on Sunday which compounded the side to a third successive defeat in the Premier League.
The encounter at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium completed a poor few days for the hosts, who threw away two separate leads against Southampton earlier in the week.
Davies, who played the full 90 minutes in both matches, acknowledged that Spurs are undergoing a period of difficulty but is backing the squad to turn things around in due course.
After the defeat, Davies said (via Football.London): “There’s a good group of boys in there and everyone’s determined to be better. The standards we have set are better than we’ve shown [against Wolves] and it’s up to us to prove that.
“It’s a group that’s hurting right now. It’s a tough result to take, we know how much better we have to be.
“I think it’s a blip. We’ve shown the quality we have and what we can do under this manager. We’re confident we’ll be able to put it right.”
Tottenham will have it all to do in their next game, though, when they travel to runaway Premier League leaders Manchester City on Saturday.
Spurs Web Opinion
Spurs need to arrest this slump in form to avoid falling away from the top four race completely. There is a slight danger of doing so already with three away games in a row coming up, so they need to take each game as it comes to try and build some momentum.
