‘Everything is open’ – Pochettino asked about Ndombele reunion again

Mauricio Pochettino refused to speak about Paris Saint-Germain’s rumoured pursuit of Tottenham midfielder Tanguy Ndombele but admitted the Ligue 1 giants are looking to get more deals done before the transfer window shuts.

Pochettino was the man who spearheaded Tottenham’s pursuit of Tanguy Ndombele when he was in charge of the North London club in the summer of 2019 (The Athletic).

However, the Argentine was sacked just a few months after the Frenchman’s arrival at Spurs and the midfielder has subsequently struggled to live up to his price tag.

According to reports, the former Lyon man is not a part of Antonio Conte’s plans, with Tottenham looking to move him out of the door before the January window closes (L’Equipe via Sport Witness).

PSG have now emerged as the favourites to snap up Ndombele, with the Parisians thought to be in talks with Spurs over signing the midfielder on loan until the end of the season (Guardian).

When asked about PSG’s alleged interest in the Tottenham man, Pochettino said after his side’s 4-0 win over Reims on Sunday (via Fabrizio Romano): “I’m not talking about Ndombele because he’s not in our club.

“PSG are open to progress, to improve. I think everything is open, one week left.”

This transfer would certainly suit all parties. Pochettino is a fan of Ndombele and the 25-year-old has had plenty of success in Ligue 1.

Tottenham will also be able to get one of their highest earners off their wage bill.

The only question seems to be whether it will just be a loan deal or if an option to buy (or an obligation) would be included.
