‘Everything will become easier’- Lukaku reveals what Eriksen must do to settle at Inter Milan

When Inter Milan bought Christian Eriksen from Tottenham Hotspur for £16.9m back in January, the relatively low price tag looked to have been a coup for the Serie A side.

While Eriksen’s form in his last year at Spurs had left a lot to be desired, he had still been one of the best playmakers in the Premier League for more than five years.

Few would have predicted that the former Tottenham man would struggle as much as he has at Inter.

While his struggles last season could have been chalked down to arriving mid-season and having to deal with the interruption of the pandemic, Antonio Conte has continued to use the midfielder sparingly this season.

The 28-year-old is yet to register a single goal or assist for the Nerrazuri this campaign and reports indicate that the Italian club have offered him to a number of clubs in January, including Spurs (Football Insider).

While various theories have been mooted to explain Eriksen’s failings at Inter including suggestions that heis not suited to Italian football and that he does not fit into Conte’s system, Lukaku believes that the answer could be simpler.

The former Manchester United striker claimed that the Denmark international could turn around his fortunes once he is able to speak Italian.

He told Danish television station Kanal 5 (as relayed by Sempre Inter): “He has all the qualities to become a champion and I want to help him.”

“Some players need more time to adapt to Italian football, I was lucky to get used to it quickly.

“If he learns Italian, everything will become easier for him.

“He will be able to communicate better and make a greater contribution to the team.”
