Ex-BBC journalist spots Daniel Levy out for dinner with Premier League chairman last night

Former BBC North America Editor Jon Sopel has taken to Twitter to reveal what he witnessed while dining out last night.

Sopel shared that he was out for a meal at Scott’s Restaurant while Spurs chairman Daniel Levy and his Everton counterpart Bill Kenwright were seated together at the table next to him.

The ex-BBC man, who is a self-confessed fan of the lilywhites suggested that the meeting could be related to Spurs’ pursuit of a certain Brazilian international.

Tottenham have been heavily linked with a move for Toffees striker Richarlison, while it also emerged yesterday that the north Londoners are keen on academy graduate Anthony Gordon (Sky Sports).

Everton are also said to be interested in Spurs midfielder Harry Winks, who has dropped further down the pecking order following the arrival of Yves Bissouma from Brighton.

Frank Lampard is already reported to have given Everton the green light for initial talks to be held with Spurs in a bid to bring the England international to Goodison Park.

Given Sopel’s credible eyewitness account, there are certainly plans afoot for both clubs to do business over the next couple of weeks which could see players heading in either direction.

Richarlison’s ability to play anywhere across the front line or as a sole striker will appeal to Antonio Conte as he looks to battle on multiple fronts this season with the club having secured a return to the Champions League.
