Ex-Chelsea player claims ‘needy’ Kane can’t create his own chances anymore

Former Chelsea player, Tony Cascarino has now claimed that Harry Kane is ‘more needy’ than he used to be as he cannot make his own chances to score goals.

These comments come after Kane has struggled to get going at the European Championships, going three games without a goal which I suppose counts as a drought for someone of his calibre.

Kane comes into the tournament off the back of a Golden Boot-winning season, as well as scooping up the playmaker award for most assists (Premier League).

Across all competitions, Kane scored 33 and assisted 17 in 49 games. In an England shirt, he has managed 34 goals in 57 games so far.

Despite this, Cascarino believes that Kane is past the point of being able to create his own chances and relies on others to make them for him.

He said (TalkSPORT): “Harry Kane is not quite as good as he once was. There was a time when he could create his own chances and score.

“I think that has surpassed him now. He’s more needy of other players to create opportunities for him, which most forwards need anyway.

“There was a period when I felt he could do something at any moment and stick it in the top corner.

“I don’t think he’s quite that at this point in his career, but he’s still a terrific forward and will get loads and loads of goals.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

Have you ever seen a worse take than this? Kane has been creating goals and assists from nothing all season. When you set the bar that high and have a bad couple of games, people really do lose their heads. It’s very funny.
