Ex-England man claims £25m Dele Alli would be ‘perfect’ for this PL team

Former England and Aston Villa forward, Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed that his former Premier League side should make a move for Tottenham’s Dele Alli this summer.

Dele has largely been frozen out of Jose Mourinho’s plans this season and, even after being welcomed back into the fold after January, has struggled for minutes.

The Spurs attacker has just nine Premier League appearances this season and has clocked up under 1,000 minutes for the club across all competitions during the current campaign, scoring three and assisting four (TransferMarkt).

Football Insider reported last month that Daniel Levy previously valued Dele at around £45m in the summer of 2020, however, after a poor campaign from the midfielder, he may be sold this summer for just £25m.

Agbonlahor started by claiming that he does not believe that Levy will let Dele leave for such a small sum of money, however, if that was the case, he expects Aston Villa to be interested.

The former England international added that Alli would be perfect for Villa in that number ten role.

He said (Football Insider): “100 per cent. “I just don’t see Spurs letting him go for that amount of money, to be honest.

“He’s still young. Daniel Levy will want more than that.

“If that was the fee, I’d definitely expect Aston Villa to go for him. I think he’d be perfect for Aston Villa in that number 10 role.

“But I don’t see it being that fee. This is Daniel Levy we’re talking about.”
