Ex-England player claims Rose has spoken to Trippier about leaving Spurs

Former England international Danny Mills believes that Danny Rose will have spoken to Keiran Trippier about leaving Spurs. Rose was reportedly close to joining Watford on deadline day but the Tottenham hierarchy pulled the plug on the move (Sky Sports).

When asked if Trippier would have spoken to Rose about leaving, Mills said (FootballInsider): ‘That’s always happened, even back in my day. That’s gone on for many, many years.

“Managers would always say to players in the international squad: ‘Just have a word with so-and-so, just have a chat, let him know how good he is. Remind him what he could be doing, what he could be missing out on.’

Trippier left Spurs for Atletico Madrid after a difficult campaign for the full-back. This lowest season at Spurs strangely followed the highest point in Tripps’ career at the Russia World Cup for England.

Rose has also had a difficult last few seasons for Tottenham and Mauricio Pochettino and Levy have recently handed his left-back rival Ben Davies a new five-year contract.

However, if Rose was sold, it would leave Spurs dangerously low in depth at full-back. Serge Aurier also reportedly wants a move so the club may not be able to part with both players without signing replacements.

Danny Rose has been a fantastic player for Spurs over the years but he has fallen down the pecking order at the club and clearly wants a move. However if Rose was to be sold, a replacement full-back would have to be bought.
