Ex-footballer implies that Daniel Levy will not be happy with this Spurs and England man

A number of players have performed well below what they are capable of in 2019, but one who has been singled out on numerous occasions is Dele Alli.

Alli endured a tough season last time out, hampered by injuries and being played in different positions, such as central midfield and left-mid, rather than a more attacking role.

Dele also failed to make the dream start to his 2019/20 campaign as he returned from injury to the starting line up against Olympiacos in the Champions League.

Alli failed to make much of an impact, which continued into his poor performance against Colchester United in the League Cup this week.

As one of the senior attacking players in the squad against the League Two outfit, Alli would have been entrusted with ensuring that Spurs at least got on the score sheet.

However, former footballer Noel Whelan claims that Daniel Levy will be less than happy with Alli and his performances.

Whelan said (Football Insider): “The thing is he’s fighting to get back into the England squad.

“There are players that are well, well ahead of him.

“Look at James Maddison, the way he’s playing, I can’t see Alli taking his place any time soon.

“They should be romping home [against Colchester]. Dele Alli needs to find his form and find it quick. Tottenham need him, he definitely needs it.

“He needs to find that desire and strength within himself.

“We’re talking about a team who can’t manage to get through a cup tie against a team two or three divisions lower than them.

“In many people’s eyes and in the manager’s eyes, it’s disgraceful and in the chairman’s eyes, it’s unacceptable when you put players out who have been part of the World Cup squad.

“He’s been part of the international set-up for years now.”
