Ex-Juve striker warns Italian giants that Kane may not be the answer – Suggests alternative

Luca Toni has warned his former club, Juventus, that Harry Kane may not be a success in Turin if the Italian giants manage to sign the Spurs star in the summer.

Kane is said to be on Juve’s radar as they seek to bring in a striker to partner Cristiano Ronaldo (Tuttosport). The Seria A champions have also been linked with the likes of Gabriel Jesus, Mauro Icardi, Timo Werner (Daily Mail).

Maurizio Sarri’s side is reportedly willing to offer Dybala to Spurs to sweeten the deal and beat Manchester United to the 26-year-old’s signature (Tuttosport via Sport Witness).

However, Toni has urged the club to sign Jesus over Kane as he believes the Brazilian would be a better fit to partner Ronaldo up front.

While he opined that the Spurs star may be the best true striker under 30, he claimed that he might not be the ideal partner for the Portuguese superstar.

Speaking to Tuttosport, the former Italian international said: “He is quick, technical, provides assists. Of these strikers, Manchester City’s Brazilian is less a central striker.

“But he would be more suitable to play with Cristiano Ronaldo. CR7 is not a pure centre-forward but is someone who scores more and has to score more goals.

“A true striker, like for example, Kane who is believed is the best under 30, is not certain to work wonders with Cristiano Ronaldo.

“I see Gabriel Jesus as being much better. He scores but also provides lots of assists (18 goals, nine assists) opens space for his team-mates, he presses and he is only 22.”

Spurs Web Opinion

While Kane is the better player than Jesus, I don’t think he is the ideal player to play up front alongside Ronaldo as both players tend to get into similar positions. Besides, I don’t think there is any chance Juve can afford Kane this summer with the striker having four more years to run on his contract with Spurs.
