Ex-Liverpool defender criticises player who looks set to join Spurs

Former Liverpool footballer-turned-pundit Jose Enrique has taken to Instagram to criticise Arnaut Danjuma’s attitude and work ethic, claiming the player could be difficult in the dressing room.

Tottenham were linked to Danjuma last week along with three other Premier League clubs (The Daily Mail). The links to Spurs went cold, though, and it appeared all but confirmed that the player was set to sign for Everton yesterday (FootballInsider).

Apparently, Danjuma had already undertaken media duties to announce his arrival on Merseyside along with agreeng terms, and the deal looked done and dusted. However, in a wild turn of events, Tottenham swooped at the last minute and appear to have stolen the player from under Everton’s nose (Football.London).

The 25-year-old is now reportedly set to sign for Spurs on loan until the end of the season. While the move hasn’t quite been finalised yet, Alasdair Gold revealed in a Q&A for Football.London that there could be an option included in the deal to make the move permanent at the end of the campaign.

According to Enrique, though, any club signing Danjuma should be wary of a few things, as the former Liverpool and Newcastle man questioned the player’s character.

He said: “Good player, but not a good character in the dressing room from what I hear about him. He doesn’t work hard enough either, for me.”

These comments were made before the move to Everton fell through, and Enrique added: “It’s a big bet from Everton with him. It can go really well and he can actually help them to stay in the Premier League. Or create even more problems and get relegated with the team.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I’m not too concerned about any attitude or work ethic issues with Danjuma, as any player that walks through the door with those kind of problems will not last very long under Antonio Conte. I’m sure the player will have been carefully vetted and will do a good job for us.
