Ex-player makes laughable suggestion that Arsenal should sign this Spurs star

Tottenham Hotspur fans would have been happy to see their team defeat Real Madrid and reach the Audi Cup final yesterday, but some would have been even more overjoyed at the return of a fan favourite.

Danny Rose was recalled to the squad for the pre-season cup fixtures this week, as Spurs were left without any senior left-backs in Asia.

This came after the England man was left at home for the tour of Singapore and Shanghai in order to pursue possible moves away from the club.

However, it seems as if Tottenham have had a change of heart, or were simply unable to find a buyer, as Danny Rose started the match against Madrid yesterday.

Ex-Leeds and Man City defender, Danny Mills, has now made the laughable suggestion that Arsenal should make a move for Danny Rose this summer.

This comes despite the fact that Rose has been a Spurs player for 12 years now, Arsenal’s arch-rival.

Mills said (Football Insider): “He’ll want to play football and he’ll want to be first choice.

“You’ve got the Euros coming up next year, if he’s not playing that jeopardises his chances of making the Euros squad. It could be his last international tournament.

“If Arsenal can’t get Tierney, would they take Danny Rose? They should do.

“The Arsenal-Tottenham thing is of course always going to be an issue but they would take him. Manchester City, he’s probably a little bit old for the demographic they’re trying to bring in. Manchester United, Liverpool – they’re okay. Chelsea can’t sign him.

“Realistically, in terms of where he would want to go, they’d be up there challenging, in and around, what other London clubs could afford him?”
