Ex-Spurs boss claims Conte will look to sell midfielder if he does not improve

Tim Sherwood has suggested it could now be Tanguy Ndombele’s last chance to be a success at Tottenham and hints Antonio Conte won’t be afraid to offload the midfielder if things do not improve.

The former Inter Milan boss is set to be the fourth manager looking to get a tune out of the French midfielder, who became the club’s record signing in the summer of 2019.

However, Ndombele, 24, has yet to start under the Conte and has been limited to two cameo appearances off the substitutes bench.

But despite Ndombele lacking too many opportunities in the very young tenure of Conte, the Italian recently praised the midfielder’s clear raw talent as well as challenging him to keep working harder for the team to force himself into contention.

However, former Spurs player and manager Sherwood feels time is starting to run out for Ndombele and tips Conte to sell him once the transfer window opens if performances do not materialise quickly.

Speaking to Optus Sport, he said: “It’s the last-chance saloon for [Tanguy] Ndombele. I’m sure there’s someone on the continent. They certainly won’t get their money back.

“It’s not worked out but sometimes you have to look in the mirror. He’s seen off three managers and I’m sure [Antonio] Conte will be seeing him off if he doesn’t start performing.”

All the players have a fresh start under Conte, and it has only been three games under his management so it is hard to judge how each player is doing so far.

He hasn’t started any of the games yet, but he may surprise us by forcing himself into contention into the system at some point.
