Former Spurs boss points out one thing ‘no one ever questions’ about Son

Tim Sherwood has claimed that no one ever questions Son Heung-min’s loyalty to Tottenham Hotspur, pointing out that the South Korean is hardly ever linked with a move away from the North London club.

Son was going through an extremely difficult spell until Saturday, with the forward having just one goal contribution to his name in the first eight games of the season across all competitions.

Antonio Conte made the decision to leave the South Korean on the bench for the clash against Leicester City, and when he was eventually introduced for Richarlison just before the hour mark, he produced the perfect response, scoring a quickfire hat-trick to help Spurs to a comfortable win.

The 30-year-old’s celebration after his goals showed just how much he had been affected by his own struggles this season, with the forward admitting after the game that it felt like a huge weight off his shoulders (Football.London).

In his post-match press conference, Conte expressed his delight at Son being back among the goals and reiterated that the former Bayer Leverkusen man was never a problem for him (Football.London).

Sherwood has now suggested that the forward’s humility is the reason why no one ever questions his commitment to Tottenham.

The former Spurs interim head coach told Premier League Productions (17/09/22 at 7:30 pm): “When it comes to January, then you start hearing the rumblings. Oh, ‘he wants to go here or possibly this club is in for him’.

“You haven’t heard any of that for Son. He has had it plain sailing up to now (his poor form). No one ever questions his loyalty to Tottenham, no one ever does because he is a humble boy. Long may it continue.”

Son could have quite easily gone to any club he wanted but he chose to remain loyal to Tottenham and sign a new contract last summer.

So, Spurs fans certainly owe it to the South Korean to continue supporting him, even if he goes through barren spells as his quality and commitment to the cause, has never been in doubt.
