Ex-Spurs boss says player he worked with in N17 has best ‘attitude’ he has ever seen

Former Tottenham head coach Tim Sherwood has raved about Christian Eriksen’s professionalism, admitting that the Dane is one of the hardest trainers he has worked with.

Eriksen spent six and half years at Tottenham before leaving the club to join Inter Milan two years ago.

Sherwood worked with the attacking midfielder when he took over the reins from Andre Villas-Boas after the Portuguese coach was sacked midway into the 2013/14 campaign, which was Eriksen’s first season in English football.

The Denmark international has now returned to competitive football after suffering a cardiac arrest in the European Championship last summer.

Eriksen signed for Brentford until the end of the season and is waiting to make his senior debut for the Bees, having featured in a couple of friendlies for Thomas Frank’s men (Guardian).

Sherwood is in no doubt that the former Spurs man will be a huge asset to Brentford this season.

He told Sky Sports (19/02/22 at 1:50 pm): “He (Eriksen) really could make the difference (for Brentford). Not only what he delivers on the pitch, but what he delivers in the dressing room.

“The attitude and conduct is magnificent. The best I have ever seen from any professional. Amazing. Amazing trainer.

“But, on and off the pitch, the quality he has. His influence on Harry Kane was unbelievable. He was out there practising his craft all the time.

“You might say, ‘surely you are a footballer, you always need to do that’. They don’t. They waste training days. This boy didn’t waste a training day.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Eriksen comes across as an easy-going and jovial character in his interviews but Spurs fans will know how competitive he is as a player.

He was frequently one of our hardest working players during the Pochettino era and I am not surprised that he has fought his way back from adversity to restart his footballing career.

I am convinced that he will make a big impact for Brentford when he is passed fit to be involved with their first-team.
