Ex-Tottenham and England man Paul Gascoigne has been charged with sexual assault by touching following an incident on a train earlier this year (The Sun).

Gascoigne was accused of touching a woman inappropriately on a train from York to Durham on August 20, 2018.

The ex-footballer was removed from the train and held at Durham railway station by the British Transport Police. He was later released under investigation.

A spokesperson revealed that Gazza was charged through postal requisition with one count of sexual assault by touching, which goes against the Sexual Offences act of 2003.

He is due to appear at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court on December 11.

Gascoigne has since taken to Twitter to plead his innocence, stating that his did nothing wrong.

“Why if I did wrong ok I’m sticking up4myself my manager SHANE said say nothing leave it2 the lawyers no I’m my own lawyer I did f*** all wrong.”

He also took to Facebook to say: “I deny this offence but on the advice of my legal team I will not comment any further at this stage.”
