Ex-Spurs man claims club would ‘love to sign’ Premier League midfield talent

Tottenham Hotspur are lacking creativity, drive, and goals in North London at the moment, particularly with Heung-min Son, Harry Kane, and Moussa Sissoko all out injured.

Jose Mourinho was able to make some of his own additions back in the January transfer window, bringing in Steven Bergwijn from PSV and Gedson Fernandes from Benfica on loan.

However, the Special One has yet to have a full summer window to really put his mark on this Lilywhites squad, which he inherited from Pochettino back in November.

In the summer of 2019, Spurs were heavily linked with Jack Grealish from Aston Villa (Sun), a player who has since gone onto thrive in the Premier League this year. The 24-year-old looked particularly impressive in the 3-2 loss to Tottenham earlier this month.

Ex-Spurs man, Chris Waddle, has now claimed that he believes Spurs and United would both love to sign the English talent, a player he rates as a superstar.

He said (Racing Post via HITC): “Tottenham would love to sign him, so too Manchester United but he’s a Birmingham lad, born and bred, and he might not naturally settle away from his comfort zone.

“In terms of pure talent, though, Grealish is a superstar. What’s incredible is that he is running the Aston Villa show at the moment from an inside-left position, almost a left-winger. To have that much influence from out that wide is truly remarkable.

“But that’s because he has grown up as a player and a person and giving him the captain’s armband has been the making of him.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

Grealish would be a huge signing. Spurs should have got him for a bargain price a year and a half ago, but would surely have to break the bank for him now.
