Ex-Spurs man ‘not overly happy’ with reports club could sell player in January

Jamie O’Hara has admitted on Twitter that he is ‘not overly happy’ with reports claiming Tottenham are willing to sell Steven Bergwijn this month.

The 24-year-old has struggled for the vast majority of his stint at Tottenham since securing a £27 million move to the club in January 2020.

Things have not improved for Bergwijn under the guidance of Antonio Conte either, making just three appearances from the bench in the Premier League since his arrival.

As such, Conte has allegedly made Bergwijn surplus to requirements this month, alongside the likes of Dele Alli, Tanguy Ndombele and Matt Doherty.

Reports have since linked the Netherlands international with a move back to his homeland, with Ajax said to have submitted a £15 million opening offer for the winger.

Although the bid has reportedly been rejected by Spurs, O’Hara is not best pleased that his former club is looking to sell Bergwijn and feels he still has something to offer Conte’s side.

The move for Bergwijn just hasn’t worked out – albeit due to injuries and inconsistency – and he has been another player that has shown flashes of what he can do. There are other players that should go before him, but if Spurs receive an offer worth taking then they will probably accept his exit.
