Ex-Spurs man reveals potential worry for Pochettino over Paulo Gazzaniga

Tottenham Hotspur boss, Mauricio Pochettino, should be thanking his lucky stars at the minute that deputy keeper, Paulo Gazzaniga, has taken to his role as first-choice like a duck to water.

This comes after Hugo Lloris was dealt a huge injury blow against Brighton earlier in the season, dislocating his elbow in the process of making a goalkeeping blunder.

The French World Cup-winning captain is set to be out until the new year, handing Gazzaniga a lengthy run in the side and a chance to impress.

So far, he has grabbed that chance with both hands, putting in three superb displays against Liverpool, Everton, and Red Star Belgrade.

The Argentine made 12 stops against the Reds, followed by a couple of smart saves against the Toffees, and two superb standout saves against Red Star last night.

However, ex-Spurs man Darren Bent claims that Pochettino may have a problem on his hands in the near future.

Bent implies that if Poch drops Gazzaniga in preference of Lloris again, he may see other Premier League teams come in for the Argentine.

Bent said (Football Insider): “I get Lloris is his first choice, he’s been a great goalkeeper for many years now but at some stage, you start to get over the hill.

“If he’s at that point, I’m not sure, but his form, the mistakes he’s been making, would suggest potentially yes.

“I’m sure that’s a worry for Pochettino because yes, he likes Lloris, but you don’t want another team to come and get Gazzaniga because there are several teams in the league at the minute that would love a goalkeeper like him.”
