Ex-Spurs player vows to wear Arsenal shirt if Gunners finish above Lilywhites

Jamie O’Hara has agreed to wear an Arsenal shirt for five shows on talkSPORT if Tottenham fail to finish above the Gunners this season.

Tottenham pipped Arsenal to a fourth-place finish at the end of last season but both sets of fans are full of optimism this season after both sides strengthened their squads significantly during the summer transfer window.

Both the North London clubs began their campaigns with a win, with Mikel Arteta’s side earning a hard-fought three points at Selhurst Park on Friday while Antonio Conte’s men brushed Southampton aside at home on Saturday.

Gabriel Agbonlahor has insisted that he saw enough from Arsenal against Crystal Palace to suggest they will be finishing ahead of the Lilywhites this season.

The former Aston Villa striker offered a bet to O’Hara, who was more than happy to accept it as the former Spurs midfielder remains convinced that Tottenham are going to finish above their local rivals for the seventh season running.

Here is a transcript of the pair’s conversation on talkSPORT:

Gabby: “After watching Arsenal last night [2-0 win over Crystal Palace] they will finish above Spurs, for me.”

Jamie: “You’re talking absolute nonsense! Spurs will finish above Arsenal, 100 per cent.”

Gabby: “I’ll have that bet with you. If Spurs finish above Arsenal I will wear a Leeds United shirt… for five shows. If Arsenal finish above Spurs, you have to wear an Arsenal shirt.”

Jamie: “I’m happy to take that bet. Look, Arsenal looked very good, in the first half they looked like Barcelona and Gabriel Jesus was a big threat. But I guarantee you right now we’re going to finish above Arsenal.”

Spurs Web Opinion

As a Spurs fan, I remain pretty confident that we will finish above Arsenal once again but there is no denying that Arsenal have improved over the summer and that they will be a much better outfit than they were last campaign.
