Ex-Spurs star claims club ‘may potentially take’ this Liverpool player in the future

Tottenham Hotspur may look to invest in their squad over the next couple of transfer windows, especially if first-team players end up leaving on free deals.

The likes of Christian Eriksen, Toby Alderweireld, and Jan Vertonghen are all in the final year of their respective contracts in North London.

Those are three very big names for Pochettino to replace within his squad. Even if he promotes youngsters, new signings, and fringe players, he would still need to invest in the squad.

One player who could prove to be an option for the Argentine is Liverpool winger, Xherdan Shaqiri, who has endured a frustrating season for the Reds.

So far this season, Shaqiri has played just 11 minutes in the Premier League under Jurgen Klopp, with just four appearances to his name all campaign across all competitions, which included the Community Shield (Transfer Markt).

Ex-Spurs man, Darren Bent, believes there would be no shortage of takers for the wide man, including Arsenal and Tottenham.

Bent said (Football Insider): “I think Arsenal would probably take him, Manchester City nope, Chelsea nope, Spurs may potentially take him as well.

“I think there will be no shortage of takers so he has nothing to fear about that.”
