Ex-Spurs star expects this current player to leave for good in the summer

Paul Robinson expects Danny Rose to sign for Newcastle United permanently when his loan spell at the club comes to an end.

Rose’s opportunities were few and far between after the arrival of Jose Mourinho, leading to the six-month loan spell to the Magpies in the January window.

Football.London have reported that Rose is likely to leave Tottenham on a permanent basis this summer, twelve years after he first arrived in North London from Leeds United.

Steve Bruce has already revealed his intention to bring the England international to St.James Park in the summer and Robinson insists Newcastle will be a good fit for Rose. He also claimed that Bruce could be the man to get the best of the defender again.

Speaking about the full-back, the former England number one told Football Insider: “I can see Danny Rose signing permanently.

“It is a move away from Spurs like he wants. In all fairness to him when he moved there was a European Championship to aim for and he was way behind Ben Chilwell in the pecking order.

“Newcastle is a great club to play for – the supporters, the stadium and a manager in Steve Bruce that Danny Rose will respond to.

“His honesty and the way he comes across in interviews can often be taken wrong but I find it refreshing. He said at the end of his contract he wanted to leave Spurs and if you are fully committed and still perform there is nothing wrong with that.

“Steve Bruce and Rose are a good fit and if he continues to do well I can see it being made permanent.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Rose’s relationship with Mourinho seems to have completely collapsed in a matter of months. I don’t see any way back for him at Spurs. I fully expect him to be sold this summer. While Davies remains a solid squad option, we need to bring in a left-back who enjoys getting forward and putting crosses in to replace Rose. Sessegnon does not look ready to be a regular just yet.
