Ex-Spurs star has his doubts over Harry Kane

Tottenham have not started the new season as strongly as fans would have hoped as they crashed to a shock 1-0 defeat to Newcastle at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday.

While Spurs had four points coming into the game against the Magpies, their previous two performances against Aston Villa and Manchester City also left a lot to be desired.

Some fans are worried that all is not well behind the scenes at the club as Pochettino continues to overlook Christian Eriksen and Jan Vertonghen, with both players having to be content with a place on the bench.

Now former Spurs midfielder Jermaine Jenas has identified one other area of major concern for the Lilywhites from their first three Premier League games – the form of Harry Kane.

Although the England captain netted a brace against Villa, Jenas opined that Kane’s performances, on the whole, have been poor so far.

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live, he said, “Harry Kane has been really poor as yet. He got his two goals [against Aston Villa] to dispel the talk of the August situation.

“But the facts are he didn’t do much against [Manchester City] or Villa in terms of his general play and he didn’t against Newcastle either.”
