Three ex-Spurs stars respond to what Vertonghen did in training – Including Dembele

It looks as if spirits are high within the Tottenham camp with the team earning four points from a possible six since the Premier League restart.

The 2-0 win over West Ham United on Tuesday was a much-needed three points for the Lilywhites in their quest to keep pace with the likes of Manchester United and Wolves in the race for fifth place.

The squad were all smiles during training at Hotspur Way this week with one particular incident involving Jan Vertonghen and Serge Aurier standing out.

During training, the Belgian managed to put the ball in between Aurier’s legs with a lovely piece of skill, with the surrounding players sharing in amazement at what the centre-half had pulled off.

Vertognhen posted a video clip of the incident on Instagram with the caption: “I’d like you to meet my son: @sergeaurier.”

The post was certainly received very fondly on social media with several of Vertonghen’s former Spurs and Belgium teammates finding the incident quite funny.

Among those who commented on the post were former Spurs stars Kieran Trippier, Christian Eriksen, and Mousa Dembele (Football.London).

While Eriksen and Trippier both posted laughing emojis, Dembele was particularly curious about Aurier’s reaction.

The former Spurs midfielder commented: “What was he trying to explain afterwards?”

It is good to see that even the likes of Jan, who have not got any minutes under their belt since the restart, are in good spirits. Given that we have a busy spell of fixtures coming up from next week, we are going to need our squad players to step up if we are to maintain our push for Champions League qualification.
