Ex-Tottenham player in talks to rejoin English football with Blackburn Rovers

Tottenham Hotspur fans may soon be welcoming an old face back to English football, as Lewis Holtby is reportedly in talks with Blackburn Rovers over a possible move.

The German’s contract at Hamburg SV came to an end at the finish of last season in the Bundesliga, with no new deal agreed between the two parties.

Holtby has actually been out of contract since July and has still not found a new team, despite the latest campaign being well underway.

However, Fussball Transfers claim that the 28-year-old is in ‘good and intensive talks’ with Blackburn Rovers over a move in the near future.

If this move comes off, Holtby could come up against Tottenham youngster Jack Clarke in the Championship this season.

Holtby joined Spurs as a youngster with a lot of promise, but he only ever racked up 42 games and three goals for the Lilywhites in a three-season career (Wikipedia).

Spurs Web Opinion:

I do not believe that Holtby got a fair chance at Spurs, as he always seemed to show glimpses of real talent when coming on. Unfortunately though, it never quite worked out, but it would be nice to see him back in the English leagues.
