Ex-Tottenham star Peter Crouch reacts to Arsenal’s defeat to Newcastle

Peter Crouch has taken to social media to praise Eddie Howe after the Newcastle boss masterminded a 2-0 win over Arsenal yesterday, thus putting Tottenham in the driving seat in the race for fourth place.

Arsenal needed all three points at St James’ Park to have their destiny in their own hands after Spurs followed up their North London Derby win by beating Burnley on Sunday.

However, the Gunners wilted under the pressure as the Magpies emerged deserving 2-0 winners to leave Tottenham on the brink of Champions League qualification.

Crouch certainly knows what it takes to finish in the top four, with the former Tottenham striker’s late winner at the Etihad Stadium back in 2010 helping the Lilywhites qualify for the Champions League for the first time in their history.

The former England striker was one of the stars of Tottenham’s foray into the quarter-final of the competition the subsequent season but it was his eventual red card against Real Madrid that proved decisive in Harry Redknapp’s side being knocked out.

Here’s how Crouch reacted on social media to Newcastle’s win over Arsenal which helped his former side move one step closer to a fourth-place finish. The former Spurs striker was seemingly congratulating Howe in a remix of Heung-min Son’s famous chant, ‘Nice One, Sonny’:

It is not just Spurs fans who are in a celebratory atmosphere following Arsenal’s loss yesterday but fans of other clubs, including Chelsea and Man Utd, are also revelling in the result.

That shows just how hated Arsenal have become due to their tendency to overrate their players and give it the biggun on social media whenever they get a couple of good results.
